Our life experiences and cultural influences create neurological, physical, emotional, and energetic signatures within the nervous system and body. These become our habits of movement and perspective - our foundation. This foundation can be one that allows us a sense of ease as well as places of restriction. This foundation can limit our conscious awareness of parts of our body and self. This foundation impacts how we move, live, and experience the world and ourselves.
To understand and shift this foundation, you cannot just think your way through. You must sense your way. The language of the human body is movement and sensation. So this is where we begin.
This journey is an exploration of how your body moves, muscle sensing awareness, and discovery of where habits of flow and restriction exist. We start here to expand your foundation into whole and isolated awareness, improved mobility, integrated strength and balance. Through this journey, you will sense yourself more clearly, learn to move and trust your body more deeply, and create connections for yourself between body, story and self.
Movement Series
Mindful Muscle - Embodied Self
The Movement Series consists of three 90-minute classes that meet one time per week for three consecutive weeks. We explore isolated and whole body movement and journey through all the major muscles. Each class is a movement class and experience with opportunities for personal reflection, documentation of experience, and group discussion. Focus includes:
-
conscious connection with muscle activation and release
-
exploration of where restriction lives and how to create greater ease
-
awareness in daily movement patterns and strength exercises
-
enhancement of body and self sensing awareness
What you need to bring to class: an exercise/yoga mat, a notebook/journal and pen, and a bottle of water. Wear comfortable, easy-to-move-in clothing; you can participate bare foot, in socks, or bring clean, indoor sneakers with you. Cost for the series is $120.
